At Shiel Psychological Services, we believe that every person’s story is unique and deserves to be heard with compassion, respect, and understanding. Our practice is dedicated to providing a safe, welcoming space where people from all walks of life can explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a supportive environment.

The Team

The team

Dr Lisha Shiel (she/her)

​

Dr Shiel is a Clinical Psychologist with over 14 years experience of working in the NHS. She is registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) and holds practitioner memberships with the Association of Clinical Psychologists- UK. Dr Shiel has a keen interest in the health of people of the Global majority and takes into account the how an individual's different identities (e.g. race, culture, sexuality) can influence people's experience of the world and relationships. She is a practitioner member with the Black, African and Asian Therapists Network.

Dr Shiel specialises in working with people who are experiencing psychological distress and/or relational difficulties that get in the way of living their preferred lives. These difficulties may be linked to traumatic experiences, difficult childhoods or more recent significant life events. She is trained in offering both brief and long term therapy to individuals and couples. Dr Shiel holds the assumption that people are the experts of their own lives and believes in taking a collaborative approach to address mental health difficulties.

Dr Shiel is based in Plumstead, South London, UK, and offers in person and online sessions nationally and internationally. She is fluent in English and Malayalam and offers therapy in both languages.

Dr Tiffany Lau (she/her)

​​

Dr Tiffany Lau is a HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from University College London. She currently works in the NHS supporting adults with long-term health issues, including people with progressive and incurable conditions.

 

Dr Lau is passionate about helping people within their unique contexts, to deepen their understanding of their experiences and difficulties. She understands the importance of relationships and will work with her clients to improve their relationship with themselves and others, and work towards what matters to them in their lives.


Dr Lau uses an integrative and person-centred approach, and draws on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT) in her therapeutic work.

Dr Lau is experienced working with a wide range of difficulties, including: 

​

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Low self-esteem

  • Existential distress

  • Supporting people with behavioural changes 

​

Dr Lau offers remote individual therapy for adults aged 18 and over. She is fluent in English and Cantonese and offers therapy in both languages. 

​

Dr Lau endeavours to meet people where they are, and provide support and guidance towards achieving their desired changes.
